Week End is everything a film should be. Week End is everything a film should not be. Here, Godard takes everything he knows about the cinema and throws it into a bonfire. It’s celebratory, it’s destructive, it’s cleansing. He declares the cinema dead by the end of it, but he had to burn it all down to find out what it really was in the first place.
